Is it wrong to rename a cat after she's over a year old? Is it wrong to change a cat's name from, say, Ramona to, i don't know, Diego? or DelToro? or Dwight? 10:00AM WEDNESDAY / 25 Apr. '01
Are my posts getting dumb? They are, aren't they? Well, I feared so.... but then i got a response from a visitor who responded to my simple reflection on a whimpy 4 years in NYC by sharing some residue from his 31 years here:
"...And then there's 31 years of livin' in New York: Thirtyoneyears of soot in yer face Thirtyoneyears of dirty water hot dogs Thirtyoneyears of dirty politics Thirtyoneyears of Rastas in the square Thirtyoneyears of the perfect slice Thirtyoneyears of punk Thirtyoneyears of the down and out Thirtyoneyears of dope and dust Thirtyoneyears of bird shit Thirtyoneyears of fuckin’ in the park Thirtyoneyears of NYC." Thanks Todd for tellin' is like it is. Now go to his site + quarlo.com + and listen to some Ramones, dammit. ![]() NYC garbage
Re: my boring posts: Could a dumb post spawn such an inspired respones? I freely admit to not doing as much thinking or concentrating this spring. See it became warm outside. We are thinking of flip-flops, the perfect ice coffee, and small birds in our windows. This morning, the six train smelled like vinegar, and my left eye got hot. I dreamt of fields and fields upon rolling fields upholstered with terry-cloth and stuffed terry duckies. Miles and miles of terry cloth. And of friends suffering from wounds due to skin-piercing hay strands, which i treated with blackened Neosporin®, like paint. 6:30PM TUESDAY / 24 Apr. '01 ... I live in new york city. Man. I live in new york city. Did you ever just say that to yourself? I live here. I take the subway every day. I experience grand diversity every day. I hear languages i don't understand every day. I inhale way too much soot, every day.
But it feels good lately. It feels alright. It feels like home -- after 4+ years ... It's nice when your corner-deli-guy knows your face, it's nice when you run into friends on the train platform, it's nice when you find yourself saying "Man, i live in New York City." ![]() ![]() Signs of Spring: Rowland savors a cool Frappucino® while awaiting the L-train's arrival this morning. » GO HEAR ROWLAND PLAY HONKY TONK LIVE AT FEZ TOMORROW NIGHT WITH THE DEVILED EGGS: Wed.
