Dear Week Off, I Love You

tomorrow»»
...You've rained every day so far, that's for sure. But it's only Tuesday: Day-Two of My Week Off.

But rain, you're not so bad. You've allowed me to stay indoors and do things I could never do while commuting to the city and working 9 hours a day. Like the dishes. And, rain, thank you for also providing an excuse to wear my hardcore waterproof weather gear, purchased for that camping trip in the Canadian Boundary Waters last September, where it was 80 degrees and sunny. (Oh, but recall, you delivered us that grand torrential downpour commencing on our last night and continuing into our final day, which we spent rolling up sopping tents and canoeing for miles and miles and miles back to America to meet a van to take us back to our car. Remember how your winds were whitecapping the lakes?).

Preparing for my new job, which starts next week. Doing lots of reading, like O'Reilly's Designing Interfaces, O'Reilly's Ambient Findability, the highly recommended Crucial Conversations, oh, and most importantly, The New Yorker Fiction: Matthew Klam's latest short story ADINA, ASTRID, CHIPEWEE, JASMINE which is so amazing and incredible, it had me alternatingly cringing and laughing outloud from my perch on the pedicure chair where I was reading. More than once I let out a loud guffaw, which I had to try to explain to my pedicurist. Ha.. hah... Oh, no that's fine... it's this story I'm reading... Funny... Story, really, really funny... Yes, the pink polish, please.

+ Print and read the story before it comes down from their site!
